Plot:- Wanted: Dead and Alive is a remake of the 2006 Telugu movie Pokiri, directed by Prabhu Deva.
It is the story of an undercover cop Shashank (Salman Khan) who works for a mafia don. His aim is to eliminate the gangsters by being a part of them.
Wanted, the directorial debut of the dancing king from South India, Prabhu Deva, is an action movie for the kind of audience that likes watching brainless action and sleazy entertainment. Starring Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia in the lead, it is a movie that falls under the category of those films that should never ever be remade.
Though the movie has a well-written story, there is something lacking in its direction. The plot starts off with commissioner Ashraf Khan(Govind Namdeo) doing his best to erase all aspects of terrorism from the country. Radhe(Salman Khan) is a notorious gangster known for his toughness and cruelty with which he operates. He is loyal to anyone who shows him money and he betrays his own gang lead by Data Pawle to work under Gani Bhai(Prakash Raj) under the sub-group of Golden(Aseem Merchant) who is Gani Bhai’s right hand. This change in loyalties leads to disputes and bloodshed which ends with the murder of Golden. Deciding to take matters into his own hands, Gani Bhai comes to India and realises it is all a setup.
The glitch in the storyline is how Gani Bhai finds out the truth about Radhe’s intentions. If only that had been portrayed a little clearly, it would have made a lot of difference to the credibility of the story. Cinematography is very good and all the actors except Salman have given it their best. Being a huge fan of Prabhu Deva, I expected better quality of songs and dance scenes but I was sorely disappointed. The movie is filled with violence and typical gang war scenes and is not something you should go for if you’re planning to sit down and relax. I would recommend it only if you are a huge fan of Salman or like mafia sequences.
